A waffle stack was the perfect way to start the day. On top of the stack are apples, pears drizzled with sticky caramel sauce. Stacking them vertically made for a beautiful presentation. The Mr. thought is was a ruffled cake bless his heart.
As I was stacking the waffles, serving and presenting these for brunch went on to my mental to do list. With the holidays coming soon I believe there will be several brunches taking place in the Sweet Sensations household. My carnivore family will surely want to have a full range of proteins, potatoes, eggs and fruit along side the waffles.
My holiday baking and cooking list will be extensive and the kids will only be home for a short time. During that short time we love to just hang out and relax. For that reason, I’m not going to be hesitant about using a waffle/pancake mix for breakfast or brunch. When I use a mix I like to add a little bit of vanilla and maybe a pinch or two of cinnamon or pumpkin spice mix. Another favorite is to substitute half of the milk for melted vanilla ice cream. Talk about taking a pancake mix to the next level! After the holidays we can go back to making them from scratch and a bit healthier.
If you want to go all in and prepare your waffles or pancakes from scratch, I have a tried and true, family approved recipe for you. It’s my Ultimate Buttermilk Pancake Mix The recipe for the Sticky Caramel Sauce is included with the Baby Sweet Potato Cupcake post
Do you have brunch plans in your near future and what will you serve?
I’m sharing these waffle stacks at the following parties this week.
These are the linky parties I participate in. Drop by and show them a little love!
