We’re not done with hot chocolate season just yet. To change things up a bit I decided to make hot white chocolate 2 ways from scratch. I’ve tried a couple of packaged ones and they were just, meh. If I’m going to indulge I want it to be worth the splurge. This isn’t so much a recipe but a method. Don’t ya just love those!
I started by microwaving 12 oz. of chocolate chips on high at 35-second intervals until they were smooth. Next, I placed them in a frosting bag and piped the hot white chocolate into a 24 count silicone mini brownie mold. 12 oz. only filled eight of the molds. After they were filled I added sprinkles to the top. When the chocolate started to firm I inserted short sections of decorative paper straws for stirrers. The straws weren’t a necessity but using them made the drink more fun.
Once the chocolate was set I removed them from the molds and added a short piece of ribbon to each straw and then hot glued a mini pom-pom to each one. How quick and easy was that!
Now it was time to take it over the top and make it 2 different ways. The first way was to make it with hot almond milk. Not bad, but it was a bit thin. The sprinkles made it kind of murky looking but it was still good.
The second drink was made with hot melted vanilla ice-cream. Yeah it was a bit much, but it was good, rich and creamy! If you prefer your hot chocolate less sweet you can add regular milk with the ice-cream or a little water.
The white chocolate squares would be great on a hot cocoa bar or packaged and given as part of a gift basket. Don’t forget the marshmallows!!!!!
These are the link parties I participate in. Drop by and show them a little love!
