After a week of my dining room table being bare, I put together this Ebony and Ivory Tablescape with a pop of purple to brighten things up. I vowed not to buy any new dinnerware or table décor after the holidays and I’m happy to say I didn’t. This rarely used dinnerware sits dormant most of the year as does most that I have. We’re or should I say, I, am so comfortable using my everyday dishes that unless several pieces are broken I stick with them.
We do however eat in the dining room on my designed tables but not as often as we should. Looks like that is something that must change. What’s the point in having lots of dishes that are just for show? My mother would have never approved.
The table starts with a simple ivory tablecloth. I used a black faux fur pillow cover under the centerpiece and scattered faux crystals around it. The mercury glass vase reminds me of an ugly Christmas sweater and that’s why I don’t use it often.
A while back I used a copper container for a centerpiece and these flowers were inside. They added the pop of color that I wanted. The hurricanes with ivory pillars were swiped from the living room. Years ago, I scored the black pedestal votive holders and the damask ones at an after-holiday sale at Michaels.
The stack begins with a silver acrylic charger. It was my lucky day when I found these black and ivory dishes on clearance at the grocery store. No box and no other pieces were available just the dinner and salad plates. The classic color combo here works with so many other colors which make them extremely versatile. I wrapped a black polyester napkin around the dinner plate and sat the smaller plate on top.
Simple black cutlery is used along with black goblets from the dollar store and red wine goblets. This is a no fuss no muss table and after the frenzy of the holiday season this is just enough.
These are the link parties I participate in. Drop by and show them a little love!
