This tablescape almost didn’t happen. It was bad enough I wasn’t baking for Easter; I couldn’t forgo a tablescape as well. This was the first holiday in like, forever, that I didn’t bake a dessert. We were still overloaded from the big birthday party. Wow, words I thought I’d never say.
My bin of Easter decorations sat unopened and will be that way until next year. My only nod to the holiday was the eggs and you know what, we were OK with that. What I wanted a bright, sunny table to hopefully usher in some real sun. After the beautiful week we had it looks like it worked.
I found the felt butterfly placemats after Easter last year and they were only 74 cents each. No way was I letting those go. They were just enough contrast against the white cloth. Joann’s had the napkins on sale for 60% off so a set of four was $4.00 plus tax. Don’t you just love bargains! My mother of pearl handled flatware hasn’t been in the spotlight for a while so out they came to celebrate with us.
The white dinner plate with the basket weave edge was perfect. The yellow salad plate isn’t the exact shade I wanted but it’s what I had on hand. I have several almost full sets of white dishes and I mix and match the pieces all the time. The white bowls were the perfect depth for holding the Easter eggs and the white mugs completed the setting.
I used cut glasses to go along with my crystal candleholder and bowl that served as a centerpiece. I don’t remember using these two before if I have blame it on a senior moment, Ha!! These were part of the stash from my long ago trip to Karlovy Vay. I placed the candleholder inside the bowl and placed silk flowers around it.
For the longest I’ve wanted to used birdcages on one of my tables. Lo and behold these were at Michaels in the dollar section. I love it when I find what I’m looking for at a rock bottom price! No birds inside just flowers, but don’t think I haven’t thought about it.J
I used crystal candle holders, (or are they salt cellars?) to hold more colorful eggs.
The mini bottles of wine are so perfect for buffet tables and so inexpensive. No buffet table this holiday but I wanted to use my Cricut again so I made so fancy smancy labels. Easter 2013 is in the books and I’ll be back in my lab with one of my favorite movies keeping me company real soon. Take Care and Be Well!!
