Back in the winter of 2011 when I was gifted with a beautiful KitchenAid stand mixture, I immediately bought the ice cream maker attachment. I had more flavors than Baskin Robbins swirling around in my head. I’ve used it four times (insert sad face). It’s not that I don’t like ice cream, I just like cake more. Cake also takes less time so there’s that instant gratification thing.
A couple of weeks ago I had two quarts of strawberries in the fridge and I didn’t want them to go to waste. One quart was pureed along with some blueberries and blackberries and the other I used to make ice cream. Now they’re going to waist!
You know how the Mr doesn’t like really sweet desserts? Well he only likes vanilla ice cream. Anything other than vanilla goes into the funny stuff category. Me, I say pile on the toppings and add ins, the more the merrier. Since this was my first time using an add in I kept it simple with just the strawberries. My plan was to use the basic recipe that is in the owners manual. Do you think I could find the manual? I’ve searched in every corner, between cake pans, charger plates and all of my bins. No luck.
After a short hunt on the web I decided to use Brown Eyed Bakers Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream recipe. Rather than write it out I’m sharing the link with you so you can check out some of her other awesome recipes. Here it is!
My nifty OXO Strawberry Hulller made short work out of removing the hulls. Thanks OXO!
