Finally, I’m sharing some pictures from our oldest daughter’s wedding. Samara and Valis were married on September 5, 2015 in Plano, Texas. Plano is a hop, skip and a jump from Dallas. This was Labor Day weekend and if you know anything about Dallas, you know it was hot. Very hot.
Her Dad and I were the first to arrive on Wednesday September 2nd so that gave us some extra time with our girl who prepared a wonderful Italian meal complete with homemade pasta. Samara and Valis also had a full roster of activities planned out for the rest of the week and weekend. Thursday night was a family dinner at a beautiful Mediterranean restaurant where we me the groom’s family for the first time. Friday evening was parents only dinner and the restaurant was amazing. If you’re ever in the area check out Jasper’s you will be so happy you did.
After dinner there was a meet and greet at the Aloft Hotel. Leave it to our other children to go to the wrong location. After a frenzied phone call from me, they eventually arrived in the right spot. Saturday was the big day and it was beautiful.
Samara was the quintessential DIY bride and with her busy life, she pulled it off beautifully. The ceremony was held in their home and was only for immediate family. Look at this gorgeous table that my baby put together.
I shipped the cake layers to her unfrosted about three weeks prior and decorated and frosted it the day before the wedding. The gold layer is actually a faux cake that Samara covered with candied sprinkles that she sprayed gold.
At the couple’s request, we dressed in white, ivory or tan. After the ceremony, we dined on Thai cuisine, ate cake and toasted the happy couple. From there we enjoyed jazz in a nearby outdoor venue.
The day after the wedding was the big party! Family and friends that were not at the wedding came to party with the newlyweds. This party was also held in their home. The house was packed with loved ones and friends dressed in white with a pop of color.
My baby put together this awesome and super delicious dessert table! As good as the desserts and main meal were the highlight of the evening was Samara’s serenade to her husband. That beautiful voice was kept under wraps for many years before she revealed it to us. Understandably, she was a bit nervous singing in front of so many people but her vocals were wonderful.
We arrived home late Monday evening, very tired and very happy. It was a busy summer for us with both daughters marrying within 7 ½ weeks of each other. We have two gallant sons-in-law who are the perfect addition to our family and we couldn’t be happier.
