Now’s the time for putting together Mother’s Day ideas and wouldn’t you know it I have a couple suggestions for you. All our children are grown and flown but I remember those handmade cards and macaroni art projects very well from when they were little. I’m sure that tucked away in an old trunk or box I can find a few. By now the quickly scrawled handwriting has faded and several pieces of their pasta masterpieces have fallen off, but the sentiment and overwhelming feeling of pride and love remain the same.
With so many ways to celebrate the moms in your life, the choices can be overwhelming. From an elaborate restaurant brunch or surprising her with a muffin and coffee in bed, all will make her feel special. If you’re coming up short on ideas check out the ones below.
Are you feeling more adventurous in the kitchen? How about a fondant covered cake with hand-painted flowers? If fondant isn’t your thing don’t worry. Bake mom a cake and frost it with her favorite icing. She’ll love it!
If a whole cake is too much, bake a batch of cupcakes. Add a bit of Matcha to your buttercream frosting for a pretty color and unique taste.
Surprise Mom with a table set in her honor. You don’t have to spend a fortune on linens. This table overlay is fabric remnant. The glasses are from the thrift store and the napkins are a quickie DIY.
Florals abound on this soft and pretty table. Simple fruit garnishes are a special touch for her favorite iced beverage.
Many years ago, we went to Las Vegas for our summer vacation. This was long before Sweet Sensations was even a twinkle in my eye. I was overwhelmed with the lavish buffets and ice sculptures. However, what impressed me most and has stayed with me to this day were the desserts. As far as the eye could see there were beautiful tortes, cakes and some of the most exquisite pastries I’d ever seen. If I went there now it would be a totally different scene. Naturally, I’d sample a few desserts; for research, of course, and no doubt I’d take tons of pictures and try to score a tour of the pastry kitchen.
I’ve already shared with you a few quick and easy Mother’s Day ideas that you could whip up in no time flat. But, are you ready to take your baking skills to another level to make mom feel extra special? Look at this graphic that breaks down the famous recipe and instructions are also included.
