Styling this Pops of Color Transitional Tablescape was an easy nod to the upcoming season while bidding adieu to summer.
Straddling the line between seasons can be a bit bewildering. Do you dive right into the upcoming season, linger until you no longer can, or tiptoe in leaving breadcrumbs to find your way back if need be. I always find myself in the latter group. Moving into fall I’m reluctant to let go of summer even if the temps have started to dip. However, once committed, I go all in and give it all I’ve got. But I’m not there yet.
Following my Moroccan Inspired Tablescape, this one is very laid back. As in life, everyday isn’t over the top and sometimes you just have to chill. And chill, I did. With this table, I’m playing with patterns and trying to use a light hand with some seasonal color. Along the way, I’ve learned that when adding pops of color, do so delicately. Too much and it’s overwhelming. Not enough and it’s neutral which isn’t the intent.
For me neutral with a pop or two of color works best. That’s what I did with this easy peasy table setting. I started by layering the tablecloths. A white one for the base and a black/white buffalo check overlay.
I swiped these horizontally striped mercury glass vases from the table in the foyer. Lucky for me the flowers inside were just the right shade of orange.
In between the vases, I sat a creamy colored faux pumpkin and surrounded it with additional pumpkins and a glittery gourd.
Flanking the tall vases are smaller teal ones with more deep orange flowers.
The simple modern look of the black flatware is a beautiful contrast to the swirl motif dinner and salad plates that I picked up from Meijer a while back. Deep teal linen napkins are folded in fourths and draped lengthwise over the dinner plate and the salad plate is placed on top. White chargers anchor the stack. Adding a fall pick and small gourd to each setting was a simple way to bring in fall color without going to deep into my fall bin.
A black dollar store goblet and a teal thrift store complete the table.
This pops of color transitional tablescape is my swan song to summer. Adios summertime, it’s been real!!!!
