I hope you all had a peaceful and delicious Thanksgiving. Ours was the most eventful ever and not in a good way. Early afternoon on Thanksgiving day, Mr. Sweets was admitted to the hospital with a severe hypertensive emergency. Thankfully his blood pressure stabilized and he was released late Saturday evening.
My grand plans to share our savory and sweet selections along with the recipes fell by the wayside and these are the only pictures I have. Luckily I snapped these with my phone. I made a Caramel Apple Coffee Cake, Sweet Potato Pie, and Chocolate Cake with Pumpkin Buttercream. The kids ate Thanksgiving dinner at home as was planned but naturally it was not the same with their Dad in the hospital and me at his bedside. On Sunday we had leftovers and even though we dined at the kitchen table sans a fancy setting we felt very blessed to have him home.
After a battery of tests we still have no idea what triggered the spike in his blood pressure and we are taking it one day at a time. This emergency was a definite reminder of how precious family and friends are and to always celebrate the ties that bind.
I’m slowly getting back to my routine and have a few tasty items and holiday tables to share with you. Take Care!
