Styling a No-Fuss No-Muss Gender Neutral Valentine’s Tablescape was quick and easy. With this theme in mind, the traditional colors of bright pink or fuchsia just wouldn’t work. So Sorry.
I’ve been holding on to this black and white flannel fabric for months and know I will find occasions to use this year-round. For this lovey-dovey holiday, I paired it with burgundy, black and deep red to venture into a gender-neutral territory. In the most literal sense, I’m using this fabric as a tabletop only. It’s just wide enough to cover the top but has a generous overhang at the ends of the table.
Most of the time I start with the centerpiece and work my way out. I do this to make sure that there is enough space between the stack and centerpiece so they aren’t too close to each other. Once the table topper was in place I added two burgundy organza table runners. The color and fabric of the runners allowed me to find my comfort zones between genders. They’re affordable and can be found at Efavormart.com.
The stack begins with black chargers. I topped the swirled and scroll patterned dinner and salad plates with a black and white polka dot appetizer plates. All together they are the perfect blend of yin and yang.
Contemporary black cutlery works like a charm with this theme as do the simply folded burgundy napkins. To finish the setting I used two goblets, one black, and the other burgundy.
For the centerpiece, I started with a deep red candy jar that sits on a silver pillar holder for height. In front of it, there’s a small matching votive. Both are from TJ Maxx. I placed two black crackled glass stemmed votive holders on each side. I added red oversized hobnail votive holders for more texture. To add a tiny bit of shine I also used two silver mercury glass votive holders also.
To bring the theme together I placed red doily and black hearts at each end of the table. While Styling this No-fuss No-Muss Gender Neutral Valentine’s Tablescape, I found that the best way to remain neutral is to use simple patterns, with subtle colors, and textures.
Don’t forget to enter my Cole & Mason Giveaway. This 20 jar spice rack is a great addition to any cook’s kitchen and it looks pretty cool also. The giveaway runs until, Tuesday January 17th.
