I’ve rounded up some Manly Meal and Tablescape Ideas for Father’s Day in case you’re still wondering what to do for the dad’s in your life. Even though I’ll be the honorary chief cook and bottle washer for that day, Charisse and I will work on the menu together and it will all fall into place. Originally we thought our son Casey and his boys would be coming. Now it looks like it will just be him. Of course we were looking forward to seeing our grandsons but understand that sometimes stuff happens.
The one thing all of the men in our family love is meat and they will get their fill on Father’s Day. Another guarantee for that day is Chocolate Cake. That is a requirement when Casey comes home and is the one cake everyone agrees upon. My guys would enjoy the meal without a Tablescape but they’ll have one anyway, because it’s always a nice touch.
Make a Plan for Manly Meal and Tablescape Ideas for Father’s Day
Whether you’re planning brunch, a multi-course meal or a cocktail party, have a plan. Have a plan no matter who or how many will be there. A plan is essential for making the best use of your time, budget and sanity. You’re honoring the father’s and father figures and being able to enjoy the day with them should be part of the plan. Flying by the seat of your pants can leave you frazzled and broke.
Even if you’re preparing tried and true recipes, writing out your tasks and timeline helps to ensure success and keeps you on schedule. A fancy smancy document isn’t necessary. Something handwritten like this from Jenny Steffens Hobick at Everyday Occasions will suffice. Flying by the seat of your pants can leave you frazzled and broke. There’s nothing worse than having two or more dishes that need to go in the oven when only one will fit inside. Also, running to the store at the last minute for a missing ingredient will not make you a happy camper. Do you need ice? Start making it the night before or delegate someone to pick it up for you the next day.
Include tidying up the old homestead on your to do list. How awful would it be to not have your bathroom stocked with the necessities? Or to have your father-in-law walk into the bathroom and have to search for the hand soap on the counter.
These menu suggestions aren’t time consuming or expensive and if they aren’t your cup of tea I hope they get the meal ideas flowing.
This Layered Tablescape is gender neutral and easy to pull together. Remember to shop your home for pieces as well thrift shops and dollar stores.
I’m sharing my ideas at the following linky parties. Drop by and show them a little love!
