I feel like I’m speed posting these days. The semester ended Wednesday and now I have loads of free time. I also feel like I have to play catch up and post all of my ideas at once. First up here’s my 4th of July table.
This time I wanted more of a buffet style table that didn’t feel like an all you can eat bar. Casual and classy if you will.
The blue glasses and bandanas came from the dollar store, the flags from Target and the red tray from the thrift shop. Everything else was already in my stash and that’s about it, quick simple and to the point.
We don’t have any over the top plans for the holiday. For the past couple of years we’ve taken a vacation. This year we’re having a stay-cation. Well with the exception of Princess Gabbi who has been away for a week and still has a week to go. It’s the first time she’s been away this long and there aren’t enough words in the dictionary for me to tell you how much we miss her. Sniffle.
I/we love to travel and would love to tour the country stopping at mom and pop bakeries and sampling their desserts. I’d love to visit some of my Creole relatives and spend a day or two in their kitchens gleaning all their secrets. How cool would it be to stay at luxury hotels and eat dainty little meals exorbitantly priced? What marvelous adventure those would be.
This year none of that is happening so here’s my plan. I’m going to cook what I want to eat, and what the Mr. wants of course. We’re going to sit on the deck and sip Corona’s while we grill and listen to old school R&B. I’m going to veg out on the couch with some popcorn and watch So You Think You Can Dance.
I intend to observe the hot weather and not complain about it and make Raspberry Beer Cocktails. Maybe I’ll get to a couple of the recipes I’ve pinned and maybe not. Gratitude is at the top of my to-do list everyday. I know that the more I’m thankful for what I have, the more I’ll have to be thankful for. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Enjoy the holiday!!
