There are times when naming a tablescape post is quite challenging. It’s not like cake, cookies or even a beverage. For this one I was really stumped. My first take was Moody Fall Tablescape, then Dark and Moody Tablescape. Both of those were just “meh”. I started to focus on the grapes, then I thought of harvest time. Harvesting grapes = wine. Bingo, Harvest Wine Tablescape! Sometimes you just have to go with it friends.
I put this table together a few weeks ago and had I jumped on it right away when the ideas were fresh I would have a more appropriate title. That being said here’s my Harvest Wine Tablescape.
The inspiration for this table was the stand that holds the faux fruit and pillar candle and holder. I found this stand at the thrift store last year and it’s actually a trivet. The round plate is ceramic and had a fruit motif, but it wasn’t very pretty. I gave it a couple of coats of black spray paint and now it looks shiny and new. Wanting to keep it simple I added a silver pillar holder and cream colored candle. The base is loaded with faux grapes, a few small gourds and some berry sprigs. On each side are two black dessert plates topped with a deep red votive holder and a cluster of grapes.
Allowing the wood of the table to show through seemed most appropriate. I opted for black and tan woven placemats that came from Ross’ several years back.
The dinner plates are from Noritake’s Tempo Collection and the colors couldn’t be any better for this setting. I topped them with our everyday salad plates and a sherbet dish that is from an Avon Collection many years ago.
The napkin is rolled lengthwise and placed above the dinner plate. Simple black handled cutlery completes the stack. Black goblets and a water goblet from the same Avon Collection round out the setting.
Well that was quick wasn’t it? I’m putting the finishing touches on a few more Halloween posts and then it’s on to Fall and Thanksgiving. Can you smell the pumpkin spice?
These are the linky parties I participate in. Drop by and show them a little love!
