To me Halloween has always been colored in black and orange, with a touch of green thrown in for good measure. My how the times have changed. I’m learning to color outside the lines, and boy is it fun!I guess it’s safe to say, “Black is the new Black”.
For some reason the combination of black, silver and purple for Halloween looks a bit more grown up.
I’ve had these black plates for years and we use them all the time. Hobby Lobby sells chargers for a ridiculously low price of $1.99 each in a wide range of colors. I nabbed the silver ones a couple of years ago. One of the best moves ever! These gorgeous black and white dessert plates with raven motif (they may not actually be ravens but they are for this table) I found at TJ Maxx, $5.00 for set of 4. The slightly larger dishes underneath came from an outlet mall in Las Vegas some 14 years ago.
This flatware is as old as the dinner dishes and as you can see they’ve seen their better days. We rarely use them and I’m so happy I didn’t throw them away. The flutes came from either Target or Kmart some years back. They’re wearing spider stickers from the Martha Stewart craft collection for their Halloween costume. I used a 50% off coupon and paid approx $2.00 for them at Michaels.
I scored the bargain of the year at Meijer’s with the tablecloth and napkins. The napkins were $2.49 for a pack of four and the tablecloth was the same price.
The vase/centerpiece is a pillar candleholder from TJ Maxx. It’s so hard to leave that store without buying anything. At $6.99 who could resist!
Halloween wouldn’t be the same without candles. Black tapers seem appropriate. Tapers and holders only set me back $5.00 at Meijers. The mini skulls are shot glasses filled with black sand, from Rite Aid.Spiders, spiders everywhere!
Speaking of spiders, haven’t they spun a sparkly web?
The crypt keeper is keeping a watchful eye. Every crypt keeper needs a friend to keep him company. He and his creep buddy the gargoyle came from Dollar Tree.
Oh dear it appears that one of the witches has lost her shoes. Away she and her friends run to find them. I found the shoe tealight holder at Big Lots for $5.00 each. The running witches were only $4.00.
I’ve got my eye on some blinged out skulls at Michaels and I’m hoping to still find them at the end of the season, and hopefully marked down. I’m linking up with Susan’s Between Naps on the Porch tablescape party. You won’t believe all the beautiful things going on over there!
