Today I’m sharing my Ferns and Floral Spring Tablescape as a part of the Spring Tablescape Blog Hop organized by my dear friend Chloe Crabtree of Celebrate and Decorate. I’m not ready to go full-on Easter with my tables so this is just a slight nod to the upcoming holiday.
What I am ready for is lots of greenery and it will be a while before we see any around here. Mother Nature is taking too long so I decided to make it the focal point of my table. There was no way I would have enough room on the table to space my settings evenly so I pushed the center display to the back of the table. To create it, I used a decorative pillow cover as a template and cut two pieces of burlap.
On top of the burlap, I placed one apothecary jar on an overturned shallow basket-like tray and sat the other directly on the burlap. In the bottom of each jar, there are small rocks with a layer of moss. Next I added ferns, leaves, a succulent and a small floral pick.
The biggest task was building up the greenery, moss, and florals around the jars. Thank goodness for 50 and 60 percent of sales at the crafts stores. Thankfully I had some greenery in my stash as well as the succulents, small colored eggs, butterflies and the tiny flowers. I was also pleased as punch to find out that the At Home store recently opened here. Don’t know how that one slipped by me but I was there for its soft opening. It was overwhelming because there is so much to see and so much temptation. I came away unscathed and only picked up a few things including the little floral baskets with the speckled bird’s eggs. No doubt, taking this down is going to be a job. Moss is messy!
My stack starts with these beautiful floral chargers that I bought at Michaels last spring. They are topped with a white dollar store dinner plate, followed by a cream-colored hobnail salad plate.
To crown the plates, I rolled a napkin around my hand and tucked in the end. After sitting it on the plate I added a flower inside and a colorful egg next to it.
I chose swirl handled flatware to harmonize with the many swirls in the display. Rounding out the setting are a pink stemmed goblet and a champagne flute.
