We’re at least two weeks out from Thanksgiving and I feel the need for a different color palette. Don’t get me wrong I am a card carrying member of the “I Love Earth Tones” club. Ask my kids, they’ll verify. It’s just that I want to do something a bit different and I don’t know what, yet. So until then, here are my fall colors laid out in all their glory. My first inclination was to just use this as a centerpiece and call it a day. Its alright, but I haven’t totally embraced the less is more concept, yet.
The base tablecloth is pinstriped ivory. I found the overlay during one of my thrifting runs and it’s kind of funky/taupy/grape in color with a hint of a floral pattern. How’s that for a description? I used a brown spiral placemat and a tan rectangle one so that I could fit everything on the mats. I got this idea from Interior Designer Rebecca Robeson.
My dinnerware is another odd color that couldn’t decide whether it wanted to be tan or taupe and it definitely needed some fire. It and the flatware came from Burlington’s. The caramel colored napkins I found on Amazon. On each salad plate sits pumpkins and gourds that are undoubtedly orange. I’ve rested the bowls on pumpkin tealight holders that I found at Big Lots many years ago.
These glasses are the little black dresses in my stash and they are also thrift store finds. While I’m on the subject of thrifting, the wooden tiered stand serving as a centerpiece and the wooden candlesticks cost $3.99 plus tax at Bethesda Thrift Store. I know right?!?! The stand sits on a cork charger, it was on clearance at Pier One and the twig wreath is from a different thrift store.
I filled my hurricane candle holders with popcorn and added a pillar candle. The squirrels and birds will be happy when I change this table.
This won’t be our Thanksgiving table; I’m still in search of the right color, for right now. For some reason aubergine and or mixed metals sound appealing, what do you think?
I’m getting my party on this week with these lovely hostesses.
