Crisp and clean, wintry mix, summer blues. Those are the words that came to mind as I put this tablescape together. One thing for sure this is a bright table. The dishes and the fabric overlay are two of my absolute favorite finds. Perfect timing at the thrift store last year netted the dinner plates, .49 each is what I call a steal. Buying all that were there should have been a no brainer, right? Not until I got home and showed them to the hubby did I realize my mistake. As fate would have it, when I went back the next day I bought the rest. The fabric was another bargain from Joann’s.
Last year I used most of the items here on another table and I loved that one as well. Still no luck finding white chargers so here are my trusty silver ones. This time I wanted the entire dinner plate to show but placing them on the charger seemed to make it fade away. To remedy that the salad plate was used for elevation. The motif of these plates has an Asian feel and one day I’ll have the pieces necessary to carry out that theme.
White napkins with a silver beaded napkin ring dress up and add a bit of sparkle to the setting as do the faux mother of pearl flatware. To amp up the fullness of the table, bowls, appetizer plates, and soup spoons were added.
If you’re in need of colored glasses check out your local dollar store. That’s where the blue stemware was found. Not a dollar store purchase but a good buy nonetheless are the crystal flutes from TJ Maxx.
For a centerpiece I used a candleholder with a mini lamp shade. Sometimes the lampshades teeter a bit. To counteract this wrap a rubber ban around the top of the candleholder. This gives the clip something to latch on to. On each side are vases that hold hydrangeas. If you don’t want the stems to show in your vase, insert scrapbook paper. In doing so there are endless ways to customize your vases.
