There aren’t any beach visits in my immediate future so I decided to bring a little Coastal Table Décor into my dining room. This is definitely one of those themes where it’s easy to go overboard so I did my best to keep a light hand with it. I was also determined not to buy anything new.
No cloth for this table, but I did use a fishnet as a runner. I bought it from the dollar store back in May. It was purchased to go on the dessert table I was setting up when I broke my ankle. Luckily I’m able to use it now.
I have often declared that I am a hoarder. Well, quiet as it’s kept I’m not the only one in my house. Many years ago we had an aquarium in the computer room/man cave. After the last little fish floated to the top and the water was drained the aquarium still sits on the stand the Mr. built for it. The pretty blue gravel is still inside along with some driftwood, a large conch shell and some smaller colorful stones and shells.
While digging through my stash of all things beach-y I scooped a couple of the large stones and used one for this centerpiece. The starfish is a thrift find from a couple of years ago.
The oldest item in this centerpiece is the sailboat. Hubby had it when I met him 40 years ago. It’s amazing that it’s lasted this long and that I haven’t used it more often. I snapped this picture of it in my first table draft that’s why you see a different piece behind it. Everything sits on a wooden charger that was on clearance from Meijer’s a while back. Painted wine bottles are placed on each end with sand colored mason type jars with rope handles and a succulent in between.
The stack begins with two chargers; the base one is rattan to add to the rustic feel. The second is aqua with a shell type imprint around the edges. Sitting atop it are white square dinner plates with beige hobnail salad plates on top. Basket weave cutlery seemed appropriate and just a knife and fork are presented.
Simple folded ivory napkins loosely tied with twine, an amber goblet and a multi-sided smaller one complete the setting. I’m sure there’ll be time for another beach themed table and who knows what other goodies might turn up in the man cave.
These are the linky parties I participate in. Drop by and show them a little love!
