You have no idea what a mental and emotional boost it was to put this tablescape and meal together. This was the first full meal I prepared completely on my own since the end of July. Remember way back when in the days of Foodbuzz when there was the 24×24 event? That’s what I felt like I was preparing for, and it felt great!
The theme this week was Italian and I was going for a color palette of subdued earth tones, sage and merlot. As much as I would’ve loved to make a TJ Maxx run I knew that wasn’t wise so I had to use the tableware on hand. All in all I think the color scheme matched the meal and theme quite well.
I started with an ivory muslin cloth. This isn’t a light weight cloth and the meal definitely wasn’t light weight either so it was perfect. Dark reddish/wine colored dinner plates sat on wooden chargers. Moss green napkins were wrapped around the dinner plates and I used a multi-colored salad plate to add a bit of vibrancy. A bowl and mug the same color as the dinner plates completed the stack.
My no fail gold tone flatware seemed the best choice so I used it. I went back and forth between clear goblets and the green ones. As you can see the green won out. The color and texture again were on point. Paired with the goblets, are the gold cordial glasses that I scored in Karlovy Vary.
For the centerpiece I swiped a floral swag from another room and placed in it front of the gold tone and wooden candelabra with wine colored tapers.
The openings on the gray stone votive holder weren’t large enough to hold the mini pillars so I just sat them on top.
To fill in some bare spots I used edibles. Slim breadsticks in a gold and green tumbler.
Green and red grapes on overturned and stacked salad plates.
Round loaf cheese bread.
I found this cake stand on sale at the grocery store for $3.74 a couple of months ago. It just so happens that it’s a part of a pattern I already have. Booyah!!!!
