I’d almost forgotten that I wanted to share this with you. In addition to the scrumptious Strawberry Crunch Cake we had for Labor Day, we also chowed down on Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches. Oh how I wish the cookies had been Samara’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip yummies. But alas, they were store bought, and not even name brand ones.
Last Saturday some family folk hung out at our house before going to Jamaar and Alisha’s reception. There was a four hour wait and of course we had to have a little snacky-poo. Hot dogs, turkey and ham Panini’s, turkey wraps, chips, chocolate chip cookies, cherry doughnuts, Coke, Chardonnay and Merlot. Hey don’t judge, I made a mad dash through the store while teeter-tottering in heels that were way to high. Almost felt like I was on super market sweep HA!!!
We killed the wine and sandwiches, the kids made a dent in the hot dogs and the cookies and doughnuts sat on the counter drumming their sweet little fingers. Whenever we have company I over buy and over cook, I’d rather be caught with it than without it. So that means time to use up the leftover stuff again. If the Food Network ever came up with a show about leftovers, I’d be perfect for it. Yean, yeah, I went way off course.
The chocolate chip cookies were a great match for the stash of vanilla ice cream we had on hand. Softening the ice cream and then piping or spreading it between the cookies would have been the easiest way to assemble them. But noooooo, Mrs. Sweet Sensations here decided to slice through the ice cream carton in an attempt to cut out circles of ice cream the same size as the cookies. Half of them were lopsided as hell and I couldn’t help but laugh! I ended up with 5-6 decent enough for a quick photo shoot. Initially I wanted to roll them in sprinkles but after the cutting and slicing fiasco I nixed that idea. What you see is what you get folks! I did get a big thumbs up from the Mr.; ice cream sandwiches are one of his faves. And if he liked them, all is well is my world. Toodles.
