Have you guys noticed the onslaught of bar cart ideas sweeping the internet? Bars with alcoholic beverages, hot cocoa, tea and coffee are filled with tasty offerings. We sure liked to get our drink on in 2015 didn’t we? Naturally, I’ve been looking for one even though I don’t have the space that I think I need for it.
One thing however that I’ve seen from all of the beautiful ones out there is that an actual bar cart isn’t necessary to display and serve your choice of beverages. With a bit of creativity and a few basic staples any table or small space will do. With that in mind I decided to use the console table in my living room to set up bar cart service for New Year’s Eve.
I used a white cloth with silver threads running through it to cover the table. With a black/white and shiny metal color palette my set up was perfect for the holiday.
On the left side of the table there is a black tray that holds citrus fruit cut up and ready to add to a beverage. To achieve a little height, I placed the white porcelain holder on a silver stand.
Also on the tray, are on the rocks glasses, wine corkscrew, martini shaker, lime juice and grenadine syrup. Plus a few party blowers.
The center of the table holds the good stuff and there is something there for most tastes.
What’s a New Year’s Eve celebration without champagne or sparkling wine? Wanting to balance out the height from the left side, I place the ice bucket holding the champagne on a small gold cake server.
I love the classic elegance of bowl shaped coup glasses for champagne and used them here. As mixers for the beverages I chose two sparkling waters, one plain and one citrus flavored. Capping off this table literally and figuratively is a black top hat all dressed up for the evening.
Stock Your Bar Cart Sensibly
When stocking your bar cart always have several non-alcohol options for those that don’t imbibe. Also, when entertaining have a few snacks to nibble on so your guests are just drinking. This is a small set up that works for us but some can be very elaborate. There’s tons of ideas on what alcohol to have on your bar cart, how much you need, plus mixers, glasses, etc. The choices and advice can be a bit overwhelming. The best common sense advice I can share is to pick alcohol that you like and build your beverage selection over time. You can wreck your budget trying to fill up a bar cart suitable for everyone’s taste. Drink responsibly friends!
I’m taking my bar cart to these link parties, drop by and show them a little love! Speaking of link parties, I’m now co-hosting Celebrate Your Story! Link Party with Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate and Danielle from Storypiece. Our party goes live on Saturday evening and
I’d love for you to drop by and link up with us so we can see what you’ve been up to.
