Years ago, the rule was no white apparel after Labor Day. After Memorial Day, you were free to frolic in your white clothes. I’m not sure if that rule still applies and if it does, I’m quite sure I’ve broken it a few times. What is fashionable as of late are all white parties and events, with off white and ivory as acceptable alternatives. Once upon a time, a hostess/bride wouldn’t dare dictate a color to wear, now its commonplace.
The first all white party I heard of was hosted by Diddy-Puff Daddy-Sean P. Diddy Combs, pick a moniker, I’m not sure what he goes by now. Naturally it was quite an elegant celebrity affair. White parties are also gaining popularity as Labor Day celebrations. An end of the summer bash if you will. All white does lend a air of elegance to the affair and when it comes to decorating this monochromatic palette couldn’t be easier to pull off.
Here at Sweet Sensations we like to keep things uncomplicated. We don’t want the paparazzi interfering with our festivities so I’m sharing my simple all white Labor Day table with you. The feel of the table is quite ethereal. Since putting it together I’ve found myself sitting quite comfortably at it sipping tea or just looking out of the window. It kind of drew me in.
For the centerpiece I used my white repurposed thrift store chandy with tapers and white roses at the base.
Flanking each side of the chandy are milk vases with white hydrangeas. Not sure if these silver glitter votives are acceptable for this theme but I like them.
The stack begins with white chargers from Michaels. Sitting atop them are Windsor Platinum dinner plates by Noritake. White salad and appetizer plates complete the stack.
White linen napkins with a touch of lace were a must and I love, love, love the pearl napkin rings from Smarty Had a Party.
Faux Mother of Pearl Flatware fit perfectly here.
No white glasses in my stash, but a cut glass tumbler and goblet are suitable. Another goblet is also use in the setting.
Our summer has been hectic and for us the celebrations continue. We’re off to Dallas this week for our oldest daughter’s wedding and couldn’t be more excited. I have several posts scheduled and will try to get in some blog visits while in Texas. Don’t hold me to that though, because the shopping and restaurants in Dallas are amazing! Take Care friends!
These are the linky parties I participate in. Drop by and show them a little love!
