The Sweetest Day

table 18

Valentine’s Day already, where has the time gone? I say this as far as this year and the past 38 also. Our second oldest son was born on Valentine’s Day and he was/is a special gift. This pink girly table wouldn’t be his cup of tea, but I love it. I also have a tablescaping friend who loves pink and I thought of you Alycia when I put this together.

table 16

Most of the items have made appearances on previous tables and therein lies the challenge. Use what you already have but in a different way. I laid the table with a white cloth with a flowery pattern. It was topped with a dusty pink round cloth. No chargers or placemats this time.

table 19

I haven’t used my pink and white dishes in a very long time and they were begging to come out of hiding. They were topped with a white salad plate. Also begging to come out of hiding were the dark pink rose plates. Yup, I went back into my tablescaping bunker again for these treasures that I scooped up at TJ Maxx back in the summer.

table 13

A sherbet glass with a little bling and a few Hershey’s chocolate hearts rest comfortably on the rose plates. Thanks again Eileen! No fancy folds this time, just a pink napkin wrapped around the dinner plate.

The mother of pearl flatware is just right for this table as is the stemware.

table 14

For the centerpiece I used a mercury glass vase with various shades of pink flowers. Alongside it are sliver toned candlesticks. I intertwined a tinsel heart garland around them.

table 20

I used the pink gift box on my birthday table last year and added some sparkle to it this time. Gabbi has been trying to talk me out of this lacy pink bottle since I found it at Goodwill’s last summer.

In lieu of a full blown dessert table this year I just baked a few treats. These vanilla cupcakes are all dressed up and ready to be eaten and I’ll share the recipe with you tomorrow. I placed some of them in my cheese keeper and the others in the tall mini cake stand.

The white thingamajig is also from TJ Maxx and is a great table filler.

I hope your Valentine’s Day is as sweet as all of mine have been. Smooches!!!

About Sandra

I am the proud owner of the largest sweet tooth in the world. This means that my other passion, fitness, serves me very well. As contradictory as this seems, I’m a certified fitness professional. It’s great to be able to show my clients how to have their cake and eat it too. Life is truly too short not to have dessert. As long as you have the best natural ingredients and enjoy them in moderation it’s OK. For the last twenty-five years I’ve been a cake decorator. Try as I might I can’t get it out of my blood, so I’ve decided to stop fighting it and go with the flow. Who say’s you can’t have it all?

  8. Well, thank you very kindly!!!!!!!! Yes, indeedy…you KNOW I love the pink!!!!! I am trying to book a flight through Expedia to come there and steal those dinner plates right now!!!! As long as I’m there and going to jail for it anyway, I might as well try to make off with the “thingamajig”, too! :-) ;-) :-) (I have a couple of those “thingamajigs” in yellow. I sure wish I knew what the real name for them was! They almost look like chess pieces, but I know they’re not.) You KNOW Gabbi is going to keep after you for that pretty bottle, so you might as well give it up! You can’t win! :-) I love the bling embellishment on the sherbet glass!!! Sexy! I like it on the gift, too. That’s pretty cool! Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!!!!!!

You’re right it does look like a chess piece! Guess we might as well get the full set, right? I’m going to hide that lacy bottle deep in the bunker so Gabbi can’t find it. Enjoy Fat Tuesday!
