You would think with all the cookies we had that there wouldn’t be room or desire for any other desserts. Well foodie friends if you know me even just a little bit you know that would never happen. Cookies are like the appetizer and in between snack to our other desserts. Yes, we’re that serious about our sweets. Thank goodness we all are as passionate about working out as we are about eating!
A family get together would not be the same and there would be a mutiny if Chocolate Truffle Cake wasn’t a part of the line up. This beauty is always a 14”, but next time around I’m really considering downsizing to a 12”, gotta start somewhere!! And once again this recipe is another one locked in the vault that my darling children think should be kept under wraps.
Along with the chocolate cake the dessert table would feel empty without Sweet Potato Pie or devil pie as my DIL calls it. Doesn’t matter that we just had some for Thanksgiving. All of the kids weren’t here so we have to have it all over again.
One cake is never enough, at least for me and for me it had to be White Chocolate. In honor of the other Sandra Lee, I decided to keep it simple and semi-homemade. I used a boxed cake mix and added ¾ cup melted white chocolate. Then I filled the layers with a store-bought strawberry glaze and I say that without an ounce of guilt. After making a cazillion cookies who has time to make strawberry glaze from scratch? To my traditional butter cream frosting I added another ¾ cup melted white chocolate. After frosting the top and sides of the cake I applied a red and white swirly edible image. Those things are a timesaver I tell you!
Those were my contributions to the dessert table. My daughter Samara came in from Dallas with her mini cheesecakes pans securely packed in her carryon bag and made the bestest banana split cheesecakes ever! Please check out her online shop, these babies are fabulous! She also made Red Velvet Cake Truffles and Andes Mint Truffles. Charisse is allergic to the red dye so we had to make sure she had her share of calories- truffles.
I’m working backwards here with everything we ate. Christmas day started with enough good stuff to really last us for the day but that’s not how we roll. Then there was the main menu………

….I’m still full Mommy.
Your pictures look awesome, as usual; but, not as good as everything tasted (sp)
!!!! Thanks to you and Dad both, for all that you do for us. You guys are great cooks and bakers and I’m glad it rubbed off! I wish everyone could’ve had dinner and dessert at our home for Christmas, even though I did give the “side-eye” to all those foil covered plates flyin out the door.
You’re a sweetie pie and thank you so much for always helping. Your cheesecakes are always the bomb-diggity and aren’t we lucky that there’s always enough to share.
Oh Sandra….how I wish I were a guest at your Christmas table….at least the dessert table for sure! Everything looks fabulous! I love that swirly red edible siding on the white chocolate cake and don’t even get me going on that banana split cheesecake! And those truffles look divine. I like truffles. They’re small. And I can eat one or two or twelve without guilt! It sounds like you had a wonderful holiday with your family! I wish you all the best for the new year and look forward to many more of your fabulous tables of goodies! : )
Thank you Anne. We plan for this all year and when it gets here the days fly by. We are blessed that our children still want to come home. I’m looking forward to what you have in store as well. Your Baked Sunday posts are always delicious.
You never cease to amaze me Sandra. I wouldn’t know where to start when it came to tasting those beauties!
You start at one end and make your way down to the other, slowly!! LOL!
