Sometimes beyond belief how I can feel unprepared for Christmas. It’s not like I didn’t know it was coming. No one said, “Guess what? There’s going to be Christmas this year!” Nonetheless here I am dragging my feet. I’m about to put more pressure on myself and attempt to do two maybe three tables capes for the season. First up is a green and gold one. I used the same color scheme last year but the design is slightly different. Also, I had help this year. Gabbi decided she wanted to help. Start ‘em young folks! Gabbi is also working on a project that I hope to be able to share with you soon.
I’ve had my green tablecloth with matching napkins for many years. I only use it at Christmas time but I intend to let it grace my table more often next year. I tried a different napkin fold and it wasn’t as challenging as I thought. Love the goldtone flatware against the dark green. There is no doubt that I broke every rule of table setting with my flatware placement. I draped a white napkin around the gold charger to start building my stack. You can never have too many white dishes so buy them whenever you can. There is no occasion that you can’t use them for and they are an indispensable prop for us food bloggers.
In early spring this year I found these white bowls with green vines for fifty-cents each. Man I love a good bargain. On top of the bowls I stacked green and white dessert plates. The gold leaf adds a bit of elegance, don’t you think?
A large goblet and a smaller piece of stemware are ready and waiting to be filled. The cup and saucer have a gold leaf pick between them.
Using ornaments as part of the centerpiece is inexpensive and you could fill vases with them, scatter them on the table or pile them on a cake plate like I did. At the base I used glittery seasonal foliage.
Around the centerpiece there are pillar and taper candles. The pillar candle holders blend sliver and gold tones that coordinate with the ornaments. Smaller bronze taper holders are the perfect balance.
Check out the kneeling reindeer, angel and Christmas tree. All Family Dollar specials. If memory serves me, the gold votives also came from Family Dollar. Wherever they came from, they work for me.
In between baking cookies and finishing the semester I will do my best to put together another table. Maybe Gabbi will be willing to help again.

I know exactly what you mean about Christmas seemingly “sneaking up” on us! Yeah, it comes at the same time every year, but every year, I act surprised!!! Thank goodness for online shopping! Your green and gold is really nice and I love your bargain plates. They are my favorite part of your scape!
Online shopper is a lifesaver, not to mention how much you can save on gas. Thank you for visiting and for your kind words.
Wow, Sandy!! You never cease to amaze my eyes!! Can’t wait to see Gabby’s project!!
She’s a tad slow, but she’ll have time to work on it over her Christmas break.
Beautiful table setting Sandra. I love how rich it looks. I’m not one to try and keep up with the Jones’ but that certainly give them a run for their money – lol!
Funny you should say that. Our neighbors across the street are named Jones!
I love so many things about this beautiful, holiday table…but my favorite part is that Gabbi helped you with it!!!! xo
That’s my favorite part also!
I love your gold leaf idea, and both leaves look elegant and beautiful! What a gorgeous Christmas theme table! Green may not be my first pick, especially dark one, but you did it so beautifully that I want this exact whole set for my holiday table, Sandra! You always have wonderful touch to entertain us!
You are always so supportive Nami and I really appreciate. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

You say the nicest things!
Your table setting looks awesome, great combo and love the use of gold ornaments…
Thank you very much and I appreciate you stopping by
Gold is always so magical for Christmas. Your bowl is stunning holding all of the assortment of ornaments. How fun that you tucked the little gold leaves in under the cups too. That was a clever touch. This table is just so rich. It would be a pleasure to sit down at it!
Thank you Jacqueline. I’d love to have your Oreo cake gracing my table.
