Summer Soiree

Twice a year I treat my clients to an evening of fun and decadence and this Summer Soiree was fantastic! The big event was held this past Saturday the 16th. During the fun of planning this event I went a bit deeper into party planning than I ever have. And that is why I’ve been MIA. It was so much work and I was super tired, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat!! I pulled inspiration from some pretty neat sites, Hostess with the Mostess, Celebrations at Home, Frog Paperie, and Eat Drink Pretty. I also solidified an idea of been toying around with for years; Party planning as a business.

For this party everything was coordinated down to the last degree. My inspiration began with A Modern Housewarming Party I spied on Celebrations at Home using the colors lime and magenta. While at Big Lots one of my favorite stores ever I found a packet of scrap booking papers that were pretty close to that same color scheme. After that I was off and running. To keep the cost down I made use of not only Big Lots but the dollar store, and lots of props I had on hand. My guest were treated to some yummy savory dishes and beverages and you know the desserts were off the chain!! My basement set up was not the ideal setting for my dessert table but I had to work with what I had.

The party started at 6 and it was after eleven by the time the last party goer left for home. One of the ladies was also celebrating a birthday and that added to the fun. Fitness is what brought us all together and everyone knew that on Monday when training resumed it would resume with a vengeance. We were dancing to the music Saturday night, and knew we’d have to pay the piper later on. Check out the menu:

Bruschetta
Island Rubbed Grilled Chicken
Pork Saute
Sliced Sweet Potatoes
Garden Salad
Cornbread Waffles

The Dessert Buffet
Lemon Pound Cake
Chocolate Truffle Cake
Oreo Cream Cheese Cupcakes
Sugar Cookies
Cake Truffles
White Chocolate Mousse Shots
Mini Cheese Cakes
Ginger Raspberry Punch
Ginger Blueberry Punch with Passion Fruit Rum

I’ll be sharing more pictures and the recipes in the next post. Already looking forward to the Winter Soiree and I’m already gathering ideas. Sandra L. Garth, party planner extraordinaire, hmmmmm that has a nice ring to it.

About Sandra

I am the proud owner of the largest sweet tooth in the world. This means that my other passion, fitness, serves me very well. As contradictory as this seems, I’m a certified fitness professional. It’s great to be able to show my clients how to have their cake and eat it too. Life is truly too short not to have dessert. As long as you have the best natural ingredients and enjoy them in moderation it’s OK. For the last twenty-five years I’ve been a cake decorator. Try as I might I can’t get it out of my blood, so I’ve decided to stop fighting it and go with the flow. Who say’s you can’t have it all?
